The rate for childhood obesity has trippled since the 1960’s. Obesity in children is causing a range of health concerns that have never before been seen in children. Children are getting Type 2 Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, and High Cholesterol. These chronic health conditions can often be improved or cured with weight loss, this includes diet and exercise. The psychological effects of childhood obesity include: depression, low self-esteam, and poor body image. Help improve these conditions for our children and your health as well by taking the EmpowerMEnt Challenge!

Now is the season for the flu and it is hitting Indiana hard. What to look for if you think you have the flu:

  • Fever of more than 100° F
  • Cough
  • Sore Throat
  • Body Aches
  • Headache
  • Chills & Fatigue
  • Vomiting & Diarrhea

Protect yourself and others by covering your cough with your elbow and practicing good hand washing with soap and water.

January: National Blood Donor Month

Did you know that 44,000 blood donations a day are needed for emergencies and other medical treatments? This month has been celebrated as the National Blood Donor Month since 1970. It was designed to celebrate the nearly 11 million people who give blood each year and recruit new donors. You can check out the American Red Cross’s website to find a donor location near you.
